Eurofighter EF2000 "Typhoon"

Multirole Fighter

Fighter-by-Committee.

The Eurofighter Typhoon represents one of only a handful of capable, all-modern multirole fighters available today. The design is the culmination of a European effort by four of its major powers (UK, Germany, Italy, Spain) to produce a logistically-friendly combat platform equally adept at A2A and A2G sorties. Since service introduction of the type began in August of 2003, some 558 units have been completed and a total of nine global operators have since emerged to have the Tyhoon as its centerpiece. Progressive modernization of the platform has ensured that the series will remain an active player on the world stage for several more decades.

Qualities

True Multirole Capability

The Typhoon features no fewer than thirteen active stations about its design, these designed to support various air-launched/air-dropped ordnance options as well as additional fuel stores. Add to this the ability to take on fuel through in-flight refueling and the aircraft can deliver its warload to the enemy's doorstep wherever he can be found.

Delta-Wing Planform

The proven delta-wing planform not only adds internal volume but gives the Typhoon greater weapons-hauling and control through low wing loading and a high thrust-to-weight ratio. The forward canards help sustain high-degree turns and aids in overall agility.

Twin-Seat Option

The Typhoon also comes in a twin-seat model which, at the expense of internal volume, adds a second crewman to the mix - a useful trait for pilot and weapons training while enhancing situational awareness.

Twin-Engine Performance

Twin side-by-side, afterburning turbofan engines ensures exceptional performance while also enhancing crew and system survivability in contested airspaces.
